The Rohde & Schwarz ZRMD is a Precision SWR Bridge, for example used in conjunction with the network analyzer ZAS or the Polyskop ZWOB. If used with one of that devices, the characteristic of the detector diode used in the bridge is corrected automatically. The diode characteristic is stored in an EPROM in the connector shell. The result of measurement may be the magnitude of the reflection coefficient indicated in % or, after conversion, the return loss in dB or the standing wave ration (VSWR).
