Gain resolution 0.01 dB or 0.001 dB via HB-IB interface. Frequency resolution 1 MHz, Noise figure (for input levels below -60 dBm) < 7 dB + 0.003 dB/MHz. Max. input power -10 dBm. With this noise figure measurement instrument, noise figure measurements can be carried out easily, precisely, and with repeatable accuracy. Due to the automatic correction of system effects, noise figure measurements can even be performed on devices under test with low gain. The dynamic range of the HP 8970A allows the measurement of gains up to at least 40 dB (in some cases even beyond) as well as the measurement of attenuation down to -20 dB without external attenuation or gain.
