About us

Rosenkranz Elektronik GmbH

Rosenkranz Elektronik was founded in 1951 by the father of the current company owner, Axel Rosenkranz.

When he set out, Mr Rosenkranz traded with metals but soon switched to trading with tools and machinery for non-professional and professional use. In the mid-60s demand in this market segment declined and the company changed his direction once again. The main focus was on the market of testing and measuring equipment.

Rosenkranz Elektronik was one of the first companies that was able to offer a wide range of pre-owned and refurbished testing devices and measuring instruments from military and state institutions in Germany and the USA. At that time no one was able to imagine how the market would develop. The first customers were members of amateur radio clubs, who were finally able to replace their old homemade devices with professional, tested and refurbished devices at a reasonable price.

Industrial companies and universities preferred to purchase increasingly pre-owned equipment to suit their investment goals. Rosenkranz Elektronik was able to meet this demand with high-quality, pre-owned testing and measuring equipment from manufacturers such as KEYSIGHT/AGILENT/HEWLETT PACKARD, TEKTRONIX, WAVETEK, ROHDE & SCHWARZ, FLUKE, PHILIPS, ACTERNA, KIKUSUI, ANRITSU, HITACHI, LEADER, etc.

In 1986 the company moved to new premises, which were extended due to rising capacity in 1992 and 2004.

In 1996 the company changed its legal entity to Rosenkranz Elektronik GmbH because this brought benefits for its worldwide trade. In 2004 Rosenkranz Elektronik GmbH signed a contract with the world’s biggest manufacture  of T&M instruments, Agilent Technologies, as sourcing partner for the Certiprime models and as European trade-in partner for the buyback trade of pre-owned equipment from the industry. Because of the success of the European programme, Agilent Technologies decided to include Rosenkranz Elektronik GmbH in its league of worldwide trade-in partners, which led to an extension of business in China, Mexico, the USA, etc.

In the same year Rosenkranz Elektronik GmbH signed an asset management agreement with EPCOS for the maintenance, repair and calibration of testing and measuring equipment in use.

At the beginning of 2006 Rosenkranz Elektronik GmbH purchased all assets of the Siemens Mobile’s manufacturing branch in Hungary, consisting of 70 Truck Loads of T&M instruments and production lines. By the end of 2006 the entire stock had already been sold to customers, other suppliers, end-users and through industrial auctions. Rosenkranz Elektronik GmbH has continued to expand – most recently into a 20.000 squarefeet warehouse close to its headquarters. In 2007 a high-bay warehouse with a capacity of 1,500-2000 pallets was opened in order to avoid supply shortages.

January 2007 Rosenkranz Elektronik GmbH signed a general agreement with Deutsche Telekom and T-Com for the reuse of their pre-owned and industrial equipment.
